The Antipodes Project
This project is a collaboration between father and daughter. As we've outlined in the foreword, this project arose from our collaboration, through which we explored, using verse and images, our shared experience of leaving behind all that is familiar and making a home in an unknown place. We left our home country, Poland, in the 1980s, when it was still in the grip of martial law, and when Gosia was still a child. We made our new home in Australia in 1984.
Here we have an opportunity to present a central element of this project, using the poem The Antipodes, which we felt had a particular significance to the issues that inspired us.
Thanks to Boroondara Arts, the project could be presented at an exhibition at Town Hall Gallery. A booklet containing the poem and graphic art, as well as the original paintings and drawings and poem text, was shown at the exhibition.
Paintings and drawings not sold during the exhibition will be available for purchase on the artwork page, which we are currently updating.
We hope that you will enjoy our work, and we welcome any comments or questions via our contact page.
